News & Events

  • The latest advances in sensing, communication, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other technologies have improved the information acquisition, processing and application of various physical information systems CPS. Especially in recent years, intelligent unmanned systems, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), unmanned vehicles and industrial robots, are widely used in military defense, transportation, public safety, industrial Internet and other fields. However, the safe and reliable operation of intelligent unmanned system depends on the security of its information physical equipment, system software and application software. Due to the openness and autonomy of the system, intelligent unmanned systems are faced with various security threats, such as hardware defects, system and application vulnerabilities, network eavesdropping, side channel attacks, denial of service attacks and so on. In addition, serious attacks will also affect the normal operation of the system, leading to system failure, and then threaten national security, national defense security, energy security, personal safety and so on.

Network and information security as a key technology to support the application of unmanned aerial vehicles, governments, scientific research institutions and enterprises have listed it as a key research field in the future. In the "white paper on artificial intelligence security" released in 2018, China clearly pointed out that the security of intelligent unmanned system is related to social security, military security and national security, and it is urgent to strengthen independent innovation and break through common key technologies. Since 2016, various key projects such as national defense basic scientific research projects, key projects for installation and pre-research, national key research and development plans, and key projects of the National Nature Fund have been established to support the research of key technologies for the safety of intelligent unmanned systems and the research and development of related systems.

In 2023, the goal of the Intelligent Unmanned Aircraft Systems Safety theme is to bring together leading academic and industrial researchers in an effort to identify and discuss the main technical challenges and the latest achievements to meet the safety and security requirements of future intelligent unmanned systems in various applications. To this end, the topic solicits high-quality research papers to address the opportunities and challenges in the areas of hardware security, system security, application security, and network security for intelligent unmanned systems. The topic welcomes contributions to literature on security attacks, hardware protection, security software modeling and verification, security and security analysis, and network security.
