Abstract:

A time shifted television system based on P2P technology is proposed. It is composed of one slicer server, one media locator server and many peer nodes. The slicer server slices the input live video stream to the media segments and media blocks. The media locator server manages the locations of the segments in the P2P network, and services those peers that request certain segments from the corresponding source peers. Peers record the media randomly and store it in RAM or on disk. Both the analysis and experiment results show that the proposed system has a good expansibility and a high service QoS.

Key words: time shifted TV, IPTV, P2P, video stream
