Abstract:

The current UWB systems for civilian applications must satisfy the power spectral density limit, which greatly restrict the communications distance and communications rate of UWB systems, and the electromagnetic compatibility of UWB signals is hard to be guaranteed. Hence, UWB systems can not achieve extended applications. Aiming at this problem, this paper has provided four potential application strategies for EUWB(extended UWB)systems without satisfying the power spectral density limit, and their advantages and disadvantages are discussed. The research can offer a new way for the future development and application of UWB technology.

Key words: UWB, power spectral density limit, communication distance, communication rate, electromagnetic compatibility
