MAC Design in Heterogeneous MIMO-Based Ad Hoc Network

Abstract:

Parallel RTS processing MAC (PRP-MAC)not only can be applied to heterogeneous MIMO-based Ad Hoc network, but also can allow two links to transmit simultaneously. However, when the number of receiving antennas in one link is much larger than the other link's, the throughput is limited greatly. That's because the number of data streams can be transmitted must be less or equal to the number of receiving antennas in each link. To solve this problem, this paper proposed extended PRP-MAC (EPRP-MAC). When receiver does not have enough space to eliminate interference, transmitter can still realize interference-free transmission through precoding technology. As a result, EPRP-MAC can improve the throughput effectively.
